OU's Weekly Sports Report
Check out what's happening with the Sooners

Baseball

Last Week: The Sooners (28-22, 11-13 Big 12) used extra innings during a
5-4 win in game three to take two out of three games against Oklahoma
State in the Bedlam Series on Sunday. Russell Raley's game winning RBI
in the 11th inning plated Ryan Rohlinger and secured the series win at
the Bricktown Ballpark. By winning the series against OSU, the Sooners,
tied for fifth place with OSU, clinched a spot in the 2005 Phillips 66
Big 12 Tournament held in Oklahoma City this season. OU is one of five
teams to have secured a place in the conference postseason (Baylor,
Nebraska, Texas and Missouri). OU dropped game one to the Cowboys, 3-1,
on Saturday after Friday's series opener was suspended due to severe
weather in Tulsa at Drillers Stadium. The Sooners then came back hours
later to rebound and even the series with a 4-3 win in game two at the
"Brick."

This Week: OU will conclude the regular season with five home games.
The home stand gets started with a two-game set against Northern
Colorado on Tuesday and Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.,
at L. Dale Mitchell Park. OU will wrap up the Big 12 schedule with a
series against Texas Tech this weekend. The Red Raiders are 9-13 in Big
12 play this season and sit in seventh place. Friday's series opener is
scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch and will be followed by 1 p.m. games
on Saturday and Sunday. All three games of the series are scheduled to
be aired on ESPNU (DirecTV Ch. 609).

Notes: Junior Will Savage (8-3) earned a win and a save in three relief
appearances this week. Savage, named the Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week
on May 10, has now appeared in OU's last eight games, all in relief.
Savage gave up his first run on Sunday after going 10 innings of
shutting out opponents but still managed to record a 1.08 ERA for his
three appearances this week. Savage played a major role in the Sooners'
Bedlam Series win over the weekend, facing 28 batters and allowing just
seven hits in 8.1 innings tossed. Savage struck out two and walked zero
as he held OSU batters to a .250 clip.

Softball

Last Week: OU went 2-2 in the Big 12 Tournament with wins over Kansas
(5-0) and No. 4 Texas (6-2). The Sooners lost to Nebraska (1-0) in
their opener and were eliminated by No. 7 Texas (3-1) on Friday evening.
This Week: Softball will host the Regional No. 14 Championship this
Friday-Sunday (May 20-22). OU, the top seed in the regional, will open
against No. 4 seed Wichita State at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and play No. 2
seed Oregon or No. 3 seed Louisiana Lafayette in the second round on
Saturday.
Notes: OU is hosting a Regional for the third time in the last five
years ... During its current streak of five consecutive Women's College
World Series appearances, OU has gone 20-1 in Regionals ... The only
loss was to ULL on Championship Sunday last season ... OU has won 12
straight Regional contests on its home field.

Men's Tennis
Record: 17-7 (final)
Ranking: No. 51
Last Week: Oklahoma concluded one of its most successful seasons in
recent years with 4-3 NCAA Tournament first round loss to No. 19 South
Carolina Saturday. OU ended its season at a solid 17-7, its fewest
losses in 13 years. Tommy Garrison picked extended his winning streak
to 17 matches. Garrison wrapped up the year with an overall performance
of 23-8 and heads into next season two-wins shy of tying the school
record for most consecutive victories at 19. Former Sooner Joe Braver
set the record in 1982.

Notes -- DaBryan Blanton led the OU men in scoring at the Big 12,
winning the 100, finishing third in the 200 and running the second leg

Kevin Bookout continued his string of regional qualifying marks. The

nine individual events (double as double qualifiers) and one relay at

with a season best time and ran the opening legs of the fourth place
400-meter relay and the eighth place 1600-meter relay ... LaDonna Moore

Houlihan became a first time All-Big 12 honoree after tying for eighth
in the high jump.
Next Week (May 16-22) -- The Sooners who have qualified are off
competition until May 27-28 when OU hosts the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Notes : The performance by LaDonna Moore was her first in the heptathlon
since she was injured during the event at the 2004 Texas Relays ...
Jessica Eldridge became a three-time NCAA Regional qualifier after
recording a season best in the 800 to give her qualifying times in the
800, 1500, and 5000 ... Season best marks (and new or improved regional
standings) were recorded by Yolanda Goff and Kerri-Ann Mitchell in the
100, the women's 400-meter relay (Goff, Mitchell, Ashley Harris, Larica
Urbina), Catherine Odell in the 1500, and Jessica Eldridge in the 800.
